Showcasing Elite Female Hockey in Western Canada
The GHC Calgary Fire AAA/AA Female Program and its volunteer members created the Calgary Firestarter Tournament in 2016. A tournament of this size raises the profile of AAA/AA female hockey in Western Canada and provides an opportunity for our athletes to diversify their competition pool. Its preseason timing also informs player selection for club teams.
Many athletes who compete in the Firestarter have committed to university or college teams in Canada and the United States. Our teams are a representation of the highest level of minor female hockey in Western Canada.
