Calgary Flames Try Hockey Program

The program is a cooperative between many partners with the goal of introducing the game and growing minor hockey participation. The program will be run at the Association level and supported by Hockey Calgary and other partners. The intent is to model the program after the First Shift program. The First Shift provides a ‘one stop shop’ program that includes equipment with registration. The Flames Try Hockey Program DOES NOT include equipment, however, most programs offer an equipment discount at Adrenalin Source for Sports (inquire with the individual programs).

Each of the Flames Try Hockey program details will vary by association. Some of these details relate to time, location, cost, and if the program is residency restricted.

*This is not a learn to skate program. Basic skating skills will be required.*

Girls Hockey Calgary

Group One:

Ages of participants: 9-12
Location of program: Bowness Arena
Times of the program: 6:30pm-7:30pm
Program dates: April 17th 2026 to June 5th 2026

Ages of participants: 13-17

Location of program: Flames Community Arenas

Northwest warriors

Participant Ages: For those born between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2020
Location: Crowchild Twin Arenas
Times: Saturdays from May 3 to June 21, 2025 (7 ice times)
Equipment Requirements:
- Full hockey equipment is not required for the first four ice times — only skates and a helmet are mandatory. An equipment fitting day will be held before the first session, where a limited supply of donated gear will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Full equipment will be required for the final three ice times of the program.
