Tournament Regulations and Format
Rules Compliance:
- All games will follow the official Hockey Calgary Rules & Regulations.
- The referee’s decision is final.
- Each team is responsible for supplying someone to serve in the penalty box.
- Scorekeeper and Time Keeper provided by the host tournament.
Tournament Structure:
Round Robin Play:
- Each team plays 3 guaranteed games.
- Points are awarded as follows: 2 for a win, 1 for a tie, and 0 for a loss.
- Finals: The top four teams will advance to the finals:
- 1st Place vs. 2nd Place (Gold and Silver)
- 3rd Place vs. 4th Place (Bronze)
Game Format
Jerseys:
- All teams must bring two sets of jerseys to the tournament
- The home team will wear dark jerseys, the away team will wear light jerseys.
Game Timing:
- 3 periods of 15 minutes stop time.
- A 3-minute warm-up before the game.
- If a game runs out of time, the clock will be reduced to 2 minutes by the referee once the Time Keeper signals 5 minutes remaining.
Game Conclusion:
- Teams will exchange handshakes (or follow referee instructions).
- Teams will line up on the blue line for MVP awards if time allows (selected by the coaches).
- Team medals and photos can only be taken if time permits; otherwise, medals are given in the dressing room.
Overtime and Tie Games
Tie Games:
- Regular games end in a tie unless it’s a Final Game.
Overtime in Finals:
- Shootout: 3 players per team shoot.
- The home team starts.
- If still tied after the 3 shooters, an additional round (sudden death) will be held where each team will have a shooter; if the score remains tied, this will repeat until only one team scores in the sudden death round. All active skaters must shoot before any shooter goes a second time.
Game Sheets
- Game Sheets: Teams are responsible for providing game sheet roster stickers.
- Game sheets must be completed and signed 15 minutes before game time.
- Game sheets must be uploaded to the Hockey Calgary website.
