Welcome to the 2023 Gritty Gopher Girls U9 Hockey Tournament. We are so pleased and excited to have your team participate in our tournament! The emphasis for our tournament weekend

is for the girls to have fun and play the game they love to play; so let’s have some fun!!

TOURNAMENT RULES

Half-ice with bumper divider

Jerseys: Away team will wear their light jerseys and Home team will wear their dark jerseys. Please ensure you’ve got both at each game.

SCHEDULE

Each team will play a total of 3 games. No score is kept, therefore no winners or losers determined throughout the event.

GAME FORMAT

1⁄2 ice games will be played from the goal line to the center line

Bumpers will be used to separate the ice surfaces

Coaches are required to balance their players across each game so they are close to equal skill

Maximum of 2 Coaches are allowed on the bench per side

2 face-offs during the game; one to start the game and one to start the second half

No official score will be posted

No off-sides, no icing

Main score clock is used for timekeeping only for both 1⁄2 ice games simultaneously

1 official at each end

1.5-minute shifts in length with buzzer to signal player changes. Players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice, new players enter the ice immediately

Tag up rule: If there are fewer than 4 players on the bench, the active player(s) designated to stay out for the following shift must tag up the bench prior to racing to play the lose puck, this is enforced by the coaches, not the official

GAME SHEETS AND SCORING

While there are no official scores shown on a scoreboard, an internal score for each 1⁄2 ice game will be kept. When the puck enters the goal, the official will blow the whistle and signal for a goal, retrieving the puck from the net and allow the team that was scored upon to take possession of the puck. The team that scored will back off 3 meters.

For full transparency in running the official’s box we ask that the populate the box like our league

games.

Home Team is responsible for 2 volunteers: timekeeping and internal scoresheet keeping

Away Team is responsible for 1 volunteer: internal scoresheet keeping

After each game, scoresheets should be scanned via iPhone and emailed immediately to
