Player Registration FAQ

How Do I Register?

Every Community District in Calgary is designated to a Hockey Calgary Community Hockey Club and Elite Hockey Club. If you do not know which Member Hockey Club you belong to please refer to the Calgary Member Hockey Club List. The List contains the names of each Hockey Calgary Community Hockey Club along with the Community Districts that are designated to it and the Hockey Club website.

Each Hockey Club webpage will detail their registration process (registration is on-line).  If you have any questions a registration contact for the Hockey Club should be present on their webpage.  Alternatively, you can contact the Hockey Calgary office and we would be happy to assist you. Requests are considered based upon the Player Movement Criteria as described on that page. Players are not eligible to register at their preferred Hockey Club without notiifcation from the Hockey Calgary Registrar that their release has been approved.

Do players have to register within the proper age category?

Hockey Canada does permit overage players but only under very specific conditions. It should be noted the instance of Overage Status is more prevalent in rural leagues - the number of teams and divisions in the Calgary leagues provide a better opportunity for beginner players or those with limited skill to participate within their proper age category. On average, Hockey Calgary approves one (1) or two (2) overage players every season, generally for health related reasons. For more information please follow this link: Overage Application
