FREE Hockey Day Camps

FREE Hockey Day Camp hosted by the University of Calgary’s Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre in partnership with Hockey Calgary.

Details of the camp are as follows:

Olympic Oval location: 

Check in at the Olympic Oval 8 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., Pick-up at Olympic Oval at 4:30 p.m.

Don Hartman North East Sportlex location:

 Check in 8 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., Pick-up at NE Sportsplex at 4:30 p.m.

Crowchild Twin Arenas Location:

Check in 8 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., Pick-up at Crowchild Twin Arenas at 4:30 p.m.

There will be 2 ice times throughout the day including Hockey Canada Skills Testing and a skills session with a guest coach. The day will also include baseline concussion testing in the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre Concussion Clinic.

Participants may sign up for ONE of the following day camps:

There are 20 spots available for Tuesday, July 7 (Olympic Oval)

50 spots available for Monday, July 20 (Olympic Oval)

50 spots available for Tuesday, July 21 (NE Sportsplex)

50 spots available for Monday, July 27 (Olympic Oval)

50 spots available for Wednesday, August 12 (Crowchild Twin Arenas)

50 spots available for Thursday, August 13 (Crowchild Twin Arenas)

The camp is FREE (no fees included)

Eligibility: Male and Female players born 2001 or 2002, AND returning study participants from the 2014 season.

As a participant in this camp, with the parent’s consent, the player will be signed up for the Safe To Play study through the University of Calgary. With this will come access to follow-up with a sport medicine physician for any suspected concussion within 72 hrs for the duration of the study.

Players are required to bring a (cold) lunch, 2 snacks, a water bottle, and running shoes. 

Hockey Calgary will provide jerseys for the players to wear on the ice, and players will receive free participation goodies.
