Dear Alberta Hockey Families & Participants,
As players, coaches, organizers, and family members of people involved in
hockey, we know the benefit of having hockey in Alberta. To help others
understand the value of hockey in Alberta, Hockey Alberta is working with
the Donald School of Business at Red Deer College to determine the
economic impact of hockey in our economy. How much does hockey contribute
to the prosperity of specific industries, towns, and the province?
We need your help. In order to complete this study, we need information
from you on what activities and expenses you experience because of your
association with hockey. We are working with business students and
faculty at Red Deer College to create, distribute, and analyze a survey
to help us obtain this information.
We will not share information about your participation in hockey with the
researchers without your permission. Therefore, if you are interested in

Here you will find a place to enter your email address, your Minor Hockey
Association community, and your family¹s level of participation. This
information will be used to randomly select participants for the survey.
By providing your MHA location and level of participation that the
children in your home are involved, we can ensure that the data gathered
in the study represents all areas of Alberta and all types of
participation.

you are selected as part of the sample, you will receive an email at the
address you provide by Friday March 15th.
The information provided in the March survey will be anonymous. The only
identifier the researchers will have will be your email address. The
researchers will record whether or not your email address completed the
survey, so that you can be entered for a draw for a $100 gift card. Your
responses to the survey questions will not be linked to your email
address. You can choose not to answer some or all of the survey questions
without penalty.
However, we hope that you will consider participating in the study
because the information you provide is very valuable to the future growth
of hockey programs in Alberta.
