World Hockey Tour 4 on 4 tournament - REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL
Hockey Alberta is bringing the World Hockey Tour to Calgary on December 19, 2011. Local novice kids will have the opportunity to be part of the World Junior Championship by playing a 10 team 4 on 4 tournament at the Saddledome during a preliminary round game of the World Juniors.
The tournament is open to 120 Calgary children who will be split into ten teams, each team representing one of the ten countries competing in the World Juniors (Canada, USA, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, Latvia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Russia). As part of the team the children will each receive a jersey to keep, a mini-stick and a commemorative puck.
The teams will play three games, lasting 15 minutes each. The rink will be divided into two halves (split at centre ice) and two games will be running simultaneously on both halves. There will be no whistles or stoppages and the idea is that players are to play a 'shinny style' of hockey where the score is not kept and the emphasis is on fun!
Participating children will also be entered into a draw to win two tickets (one for themselves and one for their parent) to watch the Canada vs. Switzerland preliminary game that night.
