Time: 7:30 p.m.

Where: WinSport Arena B

Sledge hockey players (all ages)

“We are really excited to team up with the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association,” said Kevin Kobelka, Executive Director, Hockey Calgary. “This is another way we hope to grow the game of hockey in our City. Everyone should be able to play this great game regardless of their physical capabilities.”

Sledge Hockey is the Paralympic version of ice hockey and has become one of the biggest attractions for spectators at the Winter Paralympic Games since its debut in Lillehammer, Norway, in 1994. It is fast-paced, highly physical and played by many clubs throughout North America.

Sledge Hockey is open to able-bodied and non-able-bodied participants of all ages and genders. Instead of skates, players sit in specially designed sleds. These sleds sit on top of 2 hockey skate blades. Players carry two sticks instead of one. The sticks have a metal pick on the butt end for propelling purposes.
