KCC Stick it to Kids Cancer Tournament NBC Tier 4

The SVHA ‘Stick it to Kids Cancer’ Tournament will take place March 18th-20th, 2022 and is completely focused on supporting the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, a charitable organization that helps families fighting childhood cancer in Alberta. The mission of the tournament is to create an event that is about promoting awareness of childhood cancer, as this event is in honour of one of our own players, who passed away in July 2016 after battling cancer. The tournament will challenge players to raise money and give back to help children fighting cancer.  The priority of the tournament is to promote active healthy living through playing hockey and giving back through raising donations towards the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta.

The tournament takes place at Vivo for Healthier Generations as well as other locations in the city. The tournament format will offer contact and noncontact games. Fair play, sportsmanship, equal ice time for all will be important components of this event. Teams are guaranteed 4 games.

In regards to fundraising for the tournament, we have a mandatory minimum fundraising goal, in which each team raises $750 dollars or more. Our goal is to have the kids come up with a plan for fundraising and participate in carrying out that plan themselves. This can be done individually or as a team through bottle drives or team fundraisers, even corporate sponsorship. We also encourage kids to participate in the KCC ‘Big Brave,’ as this an excellent fundraiser and one that promotes active participation in the event. All proceeds go directly to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta and tax receipts are issued for donations of $25.00 or more. Although not mandatory, each player is encouraged to raise a goal of $100.

Over the last 6 years, this tournament has raised over $315,000 for Kids Cancer Care.

The tournament is open to all caliber of players, boys and girls.  Completing the attached registration form does not confirm your team’s participation in the tournament, but it does allow us to see what teams are interested. The tournament fees are $1500.  Registration is open.
