Provincials Eligibility and Guidelines 2019-20

Hockey Calgary (Zone 9) Representative Selection:

 

NOVICE

No Provincials at this Age Category

 

ATOM

Hockey Calgary will participate in the following divisions:

Atom AA Major (Hockey Calgary Division #1)
Atom AA Minor (Hockey Calgary Division #2)

  • Due to HA requirement that teams must be determined 2 weeks prior to provincial event the HC Representative will be the ‘League Champion’ and will be determined by a 1 game ‘play in’ game, between the ‘North Division League Champion’ and the ‘South Division League Champion’.
  • 'Play-in' Games:
    • Atom 1 'play in' Game:
      • Monday, February 24, 2020 - Rose Kohn Arena - 7:15-8:30PM
    • Atom 2 'play in' Game:
      • Monday, February 24, 2020 - Rose Kohn Arena - 5:45-7:00PM
  • These games will be played for the sole purpose of determining a ‘Provincial Representative’, and will not count as part of the Subway City Championship Event.

Eligibility – All teams participating in the‘Regular Season’ (post seeding round) of divisions noted.

PEEWEE (Hockey Alberta ‘league representative model’)

Follows the new HA ‘Alberta One’ model, 1 league champion, from the 6 leagues within Alberta, 1 wildcard team and 1 host team, 8 teams in total.

Hockey Calgary will participate in the following divisions:

Pee Wee AA (see information below in AA Model)
Pee Wee Tier 1 (Hockey Calgary Division #1)***
Pee Wee Tier 2 (Hockey Calgary Division #2)
Pee Wee Tier 3 (Hockey Calgary Division #3)

  • Due to HA requirement that teams must be determined 2 weeks prior to provincial event the HC Representative will be the ‘League Champion’ and will be determined by a 1 game ‘play in’ game, between the ‘North Division League Champion’ and the ‘South Division League Champion’.
  • 'Play-in' Games:
    • Pee Wee 1 'play-in' Game:
      • Monday, February 24, 2020 - Max Bell 2 - 7:30-8:45PM
    • Pee Wee 2 'play-in' Game:
      • Monday, February 24, 2020 - Max Bell 2 - 5:45-7:00PM
    • Pee Wee 3 'play-in' Game
      • Monday, February 24, 2020 - Stu Peppard - 6:45-8:00PM
      • Game will be played between the league champion of Pee Wee 3 North and Pee Wee 3 South Blue
        • ​Pee Wee 3 South Red is NOT eligible for Provincials
  • These games will be played for the sole purpose of determining a ‘Provincial Representative’, and will not count as part of the Subway City Championship Event.

*** Hockey Calgary was given a wild card entry into the Pee Wee 1 Provincials which means we will be sending 2 representatives to Provincials. Both North and South League Champions will attend. The 'Play In' winner will attend as the Hockey Calgary representative, the loser of that game will be the Wild Card team. 

Eligibility – All teams participating in the‘Regular Season’ (post seeding round) of divisions noted with the exception of Pee Wee 3 South Red who are not eligible for Privincials.

BANTAM (Hockey Alberta ‘league representative model’)

Follows the new HA ‘Alberta One’ model, 1 league champion, from the 6 leagues within Alberta, 1 wildcard team and 1 host team, 8 teams in total.

Hockey Calgary will participate in the following divisions:

Bantam Tier 1 (Hockey Calgary Division #1)
Bantam Tier 2 (Hockey Calgary Division #2)
Bantam Tier 3 (Hockey Calgary Division #3)

  • Due to HA requirement that teams must be determined 2 weeks prior to provincial event the HC Representative will be the ‘League Champion’.

Eligibility – All teams participating in the‘Regular Season’ (post seeding round) of divisions noted.

MIDGET (follows the new ‘league representative model’)

Follows the new HA ‘Alberta One’ model, 1 league champion, from the 6 leagues within Alberta, 1 wildcard team and 1 host team, 8 teams in total.

Hockey Calgary will participate in the following divisions:

Midget Tier 1 (Hockey Calgary Division #1)***
Midget Tier 2 (Hockey Calgary Division #2)
Midget Tier 3 (Hockey Calgary Division #3)

  • Due to HA requirement that teams must be determined 2 weeks prior to provincial event the HC Representative will be the ‘League Champion’.

*** Hockey Calgary (Mavericks) is hosting Midget 1 Provincials this year and thus will have a host bid. If the Mavericks (Host) finish as the league champion, the 2nd place finisher will represent Hockey Calgary at Midget 1 Provincials.

Eligibility – All teams participating in the‘Regular Season’ (post seeding round) of divisions noted.

AA MODEL – PEE WEE, BANTAM & MIDGET AA

Follows the league champion model, whereby the Playoff Champions from the 4 AA leagues in the province & a host team participate in the championship

Hockey Calgary sends representatives from the following divisions:

Pee Wee AA – Playoff Champion
Bantam AA – Playoff Champion
Midget AA – Playoff Champion***

*** Hockey Calgary (Royals Gold) is hosting Midget AA Provincials this year and thus will have a host bid. If the Royals Gold (Host) finish as the playoff champion, the playoff runner up will represent Hockey Calgary at Midget AA Provincials.

Eligibility – All teams participating in ‘Hockey Calgary AA Leagues’
