Safe to Play Concussion Study

November 1, 2016

Hello Hockey Calgary members,

With all of the recent body checking policy changes, the Hockey Study (conducted out of the University of Calgary) is looking to evaluate the impact these new rules are having on players. In order to get the whole picture we are looking for Bantam and Midget teams in both body checking AND non-body checking leagues. We want to invite your team to participate.

By joining this study your players have the opportunity to have concussion baseline testing completed and should they sustain a suspected concussion during the season, assessment and treatment from our study physicians at the University of Calgary’s Sport Medicine Centre. Typically, study participants are seen by our physicians within 72 hours of contacting us. Since we are a publically funded research centre, we are able to offer these services to you free of charge.

If your team is interested in participating, please give us a call (403-220-6336) or email (hockey@ucalgary.ca). If you are not interested, we would still appreciate a call or email so that we know not to contact you further.

Thank you,

The Hockey Study
