Hockey Canada reaching out to those affected by the fire in Ft. Mac

May 17, 2016

Hockey Canada would like to reach out to those effected by the fires in Fort McMurray and area and invite those who have been displaced to the Calgary area to join our spring program currently in progress.

Our registration group and partners have been key in this initiative and have provided donations and the opportunity to borrow equipment for young Fort McMurray athletes currently in the Calgary area.

Cost for the program will be $30.00 and Hockey Canada will provide a camp jersey for this fee.

The Hockey Canada Spring Development Program runs from April 4th until June 12th. The program is for Novice, Atom and Peewee level players.

The focus of the program is sport specific skill and full spectrum athletic development. Players have two 1hr sessions on the ice per week, focusing on technical skills. Each 1 hr on-ice session is followed by a 1hr off-ice athletic development session (multisport training, physical literacy, gymnastics, etc.)

The program will finish the weekend of June 10-12 with a fun-style tournament for each age group. This offer is open to families who have been displaced by the fires in Fort McMurray and does require identification confirming residence. We are very much looking forward to providing a welcoming and positive experience for these kids during this difficult time.
