Call for Committee Members: Foothills AA Management Committee

The Foothills Minor Hockey AA Steering Committee, located just south of Calgary, is seeking dedicated supporters of elite youth hockey in our community to form the inaugural Foothills AA Management Committee. The prospective Committee will be responsible for establishing and maintaining:
- Hockey teams capable of competing for the championship every year;
- An instructive, supportive and fun environment that will help develop our players and coaches to reach their full potential;
- An environment in which everyone involved - players, coaching staff, officials, parents, fans, community members and visitors - feel welcome, respected and valued;
- A 'winning spirit' in our community that will encourage and support our players and on and off-ice participants; and
- A reputation for program as one of the most competitive, well-run and sportsmanlike organization in the province.
Committee members will be expected to:
- Have experience in building and supporting a community-based youth athletic program (preferably in hockey but other sports experience is welcome)
- Make a time commitment of at least eight hours per month
- Stay informed of issues and trends in the community that might affect the organization and share this information with the Committee;
- Have knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance: policy, finance, programs and personnel;
- Have excellent oral and written communications skills;
- Be willing to serve on at least one committee (such as strategic planning, fundraising, human resources, communications)
- Possess demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and cooperative environment;
- Monitor the performance of the Committee, staff/volunteermembers;
- Members of the inaugural Committee will define position and roles within the committee
The initial term of office for Committee Members is two years, with a potential to be renewed.
