Groove for Kai!

February 25, 2015

Dear Hockey Calgary Community,

It is with great honour that we invite you to participate in a very special event. On March 14, 2015 at the Lake Bonavista Recreation Centre an entire community is coming together to raise funds for a very special young man and his family. Kai Vander Loos, age 10, has been courageously battling against a very rare form of cancer for the past 11 months. Together with his parents, Todd and Janine, brother, Jorn and his grandparents, Kai has been fighting this horrific disease with every treatment available to him. As part of his overall treatment plan, Kai has just recently undergone an intensive and extensive surgery in Houston Texas in hopes of a cure. Todd and Janine have been focussing 100% of their time and efforts towards helping Kai heal and therefore have incurred extraordinary costs which are not covered by traditional health care.

Here’s how you can help:

1. Please consider contributing an item to the silent auction. The item can be donated by you, your employer, or both. Some items that have sold well at past auctions include Flames hockey tickets, restaurant gift certificates, portable electronics, hotel/spa getaways, gift baskets, experiences/vacation rentals, and retail gift certificates.

We have enclosed a donation form for you to complete.

2. Please mark your calendar now and plan to attend this special event on March 14, 2015 at 7:00 pm. In honour of Kai and his family we are hosting a "Groove For Kai" fundraiser. Wear your best polyester and floods and join in the fun dancing the night away to your favorite 70’s tunes. The evening will include, not only a silent auction, but a "show your groove" dance off, a photo booth to capture great memoires of this event, and a midnight lunch. We encourage you to bring a friend or colleague and your credit card!
